A singing competition for the Overseas Filipino Workers in Saudi Arabia organized by S.E.Productions (SEP), a recognized community service and cultural organization by the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

Gabriel Adora, a 2nd year student from Al-Hekma Int’l School emerged as the Grand Champion of Jeddah Pop Icon 2011 held recently at Golden Tulip Hotel’s Grand Ballroom.
Adora’s own rendition of “To Where You Are” earned him a sure spot to represent Western Region, along with 3 other top winners , Emmanuel Paras, Jun Ventura and Joseph Juanillo to the kingdomwide competition dubbed as KSA Pop Icon 2011 in Riyadh on April 15, 2011.
The other finalists who made it to the Top 8 were JP Andrade Jr, Patricia Sirajam, John Lester Dorig and Jamie Ross Garcia. Other contenders were Glenys Cabana, Rahzel Sandayan, Jiovanni Ibanez, Jhogie Canua, Dareen Maula and Michelle Miro.
This year’s Board of Judges were Dr. Tina Aldover, May Ann Aninon, Ramon Carl Benetez, Mario Germino, Art Cruz and Ahjid Sayas. The occassion was graced by H.E. Consul Leo Tito Ausan and his wife Mrs. Agnes Ausan as special guests.
“This occasion marks another achievement by FAME, in producing a quality show and I am proud to say that FAME has mastered its craft all these years… in continuously putting up a great show despite the persevering odds. This is also a time to see friends, supporters, and settle all the differences which might have occurred in the past. We are very happy and excited since most of the contenders have really put their extra effort and we have selected the best talents to represent the Western region in the coming kingdom wide search” Abris said.
The full-packed venue at Golden Tulip Hotel’s Grand Ballroom was attended by the contender’s relatives, friends and community leaders in Jeddah who were given the chance to win prizes from Friendi SIM card. The lucky winner got a brand new cell phone.
It was also a time to recognize FAME’s pool of talents that includes Nisreen Kurshid and Yasmeen Ali, Binibining Pilipinas KSA 2009 and 2010 respectively, along with Huntlee Ragudo and Sarah Jane Rejuso – 2nd Runners-up, William Christopher Boyce – 3rd Runner-up and finalists Zaki Patricio, AJ Deveza, Reynold Silva, Carla Alvarez and Claudette Edano.
Main sponsor of Jeddah Pop Icon is FRIENDI Mobile represented by VICTOR RASTRULLO, Product and Pricing Manager. Minor sponsors were Skyfreight, Bassam Dental Clinics, FIC (Fruits In Ice Cream) and Night Queen Est. The show was hosted by Veejay Louis John Aragon and Raquel Consebido.
Guest performers were, Karla Mae Carreon (Saudi Arabia’s representative to WCOPA (World Championship of Performing Arts), Jae-Are Agustin (1st Runner-up Jeddah Pop Icon 2011), Alvin Dave Limpin (Finalists Jeddah Pop Icon 2010) RT La Divas, Zaidoz and Knight Movers. The event was directed by Jerry Lagrimas. Sounds and Lights were provided by Jezebel while Official Tabulator was Jojo Edano.

Everything is set and everyone is ready for the Grand Finals on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Liwasang Bonifacio Philippine Embassy, Riyadh, K.S.A.
Jeddah Pop Icon Grand Champion, Andrei Lacsamana withdrawn his entry to the National Competition as of today, May 9, 2010 due to unavoidable circumstances. This was announced officially by Jerry Lagrimas – Vice President of Filipino Artiste Migrant Ensemble (FAME) – the organizer of Pop Icon in Western Region a while ago.
As per the rules and regulations of the contest, “once a finalist withdrawn or backed out from the contest, it is automatically that the succeeding placement in order shall be applied”.
Hence, Joseph Loyola, 5th placer in Western Region, will be joining the rest of the finalists to compete to the Grand Finals in Riyadh.
For 10 days, the popularity votes for the Saudi Arabia Pop Icons finalists will determine the 10% of the total votes during the Grand Finals 1st round. One vote per IP Address.
The vote will commence on May 18, 2010 at 5:00pm (Saudi time)
