Neribe Doloricon is Pop Star of the Night

Despite the unanticipated sand storm that hits the city, the 1st elimination round of Saudi Arabia Pop Icon Season 3 was successfully held and many spectators still managed to come and witness the event.

Neribe Doloricon emerged as the Pop Icon Star of the Night during the show held at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, K.S.A. Her rendition of “Change” wooed the audience and the judges gave her a validation that she was the best contestant last night.

Jay-Are Nate topped the Internet Voting and assured him of a slot to the next elimination round.



The contestants who didn’t make it to the next round are Ronald Sacdalan, Jamila Mae Fernandez, Francis De Mesa, Rulph Michael Corvera and Emmanuel Ibale.

Second Elimination Round will be held on March 19, 2010 @ 5:00 p.m. at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, K.S.A.

Meanwhile, the voting has now resumed.

Al-Khobar, KSA. – Tagisan ng galing sa pagkanta ang labanan ng 17 contenders mula sa Al-Khobar, Dammam, Qatif, Jubail, at Al-Hassa ngayong darating na ika-26 ng Pebrero, Biyernes para sa Search for Pop Icon Saudi Arabia Season 3 Elimination Night – Eastern Region.

Nagsimula na nga ang search para sa gustong sumikat sa larangan ng pag-awit. Sa pakikipagtulungan ng S.E Productions (Main Organizer), ang Saring Himig Choir KSA ay nag-organisa ng mga auditions sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Eastern Region mula pa noong nakaraang buwan: Enero 15 (Al-Khobar, Dammam Area), Enero 22 (Jubail), at Febrero 5 (Al-Hassa) na kung saan nakapili ng labing-pitong maglalaban-laban sa Elimination Night. 1st Elimination Round in Central Region on Feb. 26.

All roads tomorrow lead to the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh to witness the first elimination round of Saudi Arabia Pop Icon Season 3 (Central Region).

After a month of personality development, voice lessons and building their confidence, 21 contestants will have their first public appearance with their own selected songs and shall also undergo interview portion which is part of the criteria

Since this is an affair for Filipinos in the kingdom, foreigners are not advised to come, except for the sponsors and patrons. The show will start at 5:00 pm . Admission is FREE.

16 qualifies for SAUDI ARABIA Pop Icon 2010 in Jeddah

It was indeed a tough audition for 25 aspirants who flocked to La Parilla Restaurant last Feb 20 and dream to be the new Pop Icon of Saudi Arabia Grand Winner.
Now on its third season, SE Productions in collaboration with Filipino Artiste Migrant Ensemble (FAME) in Jeddah will hold the much awaited musical event of the year through the support of their major sponsor SARAWAT Superstores which is celebrating its 30th year in servicing its loyal customers especially the Filipino Community in KSA.

Out of the 25 aspirants who flocked to La Parilla Restaurant last Feb 20, Sixteen (16) contestants (13 males and 3 females) made it to the final round and earned the right to be contenders in the Grand Finals to be held on April 23, 2010. The Top 4 will represent Jeddah to the Kingdom wide search to be held at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh on May 21, 2010.

Most of the 16 contenders are first timers, while there are some who already joined singing contests in Jeddah and in the Philippines. The judges, Mario Germino, Juliet Sayas and Kiel Erida, agreed that it is going to be an exciting contest this year since most of them have different and unique styles which are very interesting for the audience to watch. Ron Jacobe, S.E. Productions seasoned-director gave a brief background about the contest and gave the contenders some tips on how the new Pop Icon KSA will be chosen as a whole.



The event was well attended by all FAME Officers, lead by its founding Chairman Jhun Abris with special guest, Ron Jacobe – Artistic Director of SE Productions – Riyadh. Vice Chairman Jerry Lagrimas and Executive Assistant Bubbles Hernandez took turns in hosting the audition process. Last year’s Pop Icon winner Karla Maye Carreon and the newly formed dance group, Knight Movers, provided the Intermission numbers.



This year’s 16 contenders are; Dina Fontanilla, Huntlee Ragudo, Yayo Valmonte, Student, Ariel Afante of Olayan Food Services, Ferdinand Lacsama of Hussein Al Qatani, John John Domingo of Manar Advertising, Joseph Loyola from Movenpick Al Nawras Resort, Jason Pagalan of Saudia Airlines Flight Operations, Vincent Valiente, a service crew, Alvin Dave Limpin of AMS-Baeshen Co., Michael Pedron of Baeshen Company, Mark Garcia, an Asst Supervisor, Jae -Are Agustin of AMS-Baeshen Co., Jeser Valles of Al Azizia Panda United, Cristina Cunanan from King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital and Mark Barluado of Bank Albilad.

Workshop and Personality Training for SAPI 3 starts

It was a Friday and most of the OFWs in Saudi Arabia are on a day off. It is supposed to be a day of rest or a day to attend to their personal needs.

However, 12 February 2010, Friday, was a very hectic day for the 22 Pop Icon Season 3Contestants.

Promptly, SE Productions in-house director Ron Jacobe started the contestants’ Personality Development Training. It was not easy for most of the contenders being first timers in the arena. Although some already had their fair share of the limelight having already competed in some singing contests in the Philippines and in the Gulf – Pop Superstar and the TFC Pop Star in Dubai . The training focused on how the contestants would conduct themselves in an interview in front of a screaming crowd, how to briefly but concisely answer to questions thrown to them and proper diction and pronunciation of the English language to name a few. The contestants were quick enough to learn the ropes. Soon thereafter, Direk Ron taught the contestants the choreography of their production number for the First Elimination Night. Kudos to the contestants, they were fast to comprehend the sequences.

Each one has to take a short break to prepare themselves for the VTR shoot to be posted in the You Tube soon. The contestants sang acapella and displayed their individual singing prowess.

The day’s activities ended already early evening. It maybe a very long tiresome day, full of pressure and tension but it all paid off as they were being prepared for the first elimination night.

Meanwhile, the internet voting starts today and the winner will have a chance of a sure slot during the 1st elimination.

First elimination night will be on 26 February 2010 at the Philippine Embassy Liwasang Bonifacio grounds.
